  • Buying a used VXR

    Hi all,

Great forum you have here, loads of information!

I'm looking to buy a 2006 Astra VXR with 60,000 miles and I'm trying to find out if there are any faults, recalls or any particular areas of the car that I should pay extra attention to?

I've done a search on the forum but I didn't quite get what I was looking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,
    Rob

check gear box for wines and crunchs through the gears,
    the seats arent creeking,
    climate works if getting that.
if got AFL check the lights move correctly.
with the lights on check see if the horn works.
check the tread on the tyres see if there evenly worn

and give the tyres a kick lol

check for error codes and have pen and paper at the ready to write the error codes down if any .

            heres a how to link >> http://www.vxronline.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=33644

have at least a 30 minute test drive including motoway speeds .

check oil return pipe for leaks ,

drive with window down and listen for anything that doesn`t sound right specially when changing gear .

if i was buying a 2nd hand vxr i`de also be checking plugs / filters / seals / manifold / exhaust ect...

make sure all tyres are evenly worn with plenty of tread on them .

have a good look for stone chips / scrapes / scratches ect ,

make a list of all known faults that you`ve seen and are aware of and then knock the price down

on collection day allow extra cash to give it a full tank of 99ron fuel and enjoy
