    There are two main requirements here;

    1. Ensuring that you maintain the car to VX standards with the use of oils and parts for your warranty to stay in tact. Any 5w30 or 0w40 oils confirming or bettering the GM min standard for oils is acceptable, and will be fine for a std VXR.

    2. If you really want to care for your car put some better stuff in !

    To do this contact Oilman on here and ask him what to use but the cost will go up !

    I would think he may point you towards specialist Miller and Silkolene Oils fully synthetic or Ester Oils.

                  I think he was more after an explanation why you use 5w40 as apposed to 0w40 like he uses

                    To all the Costco members they are now doing the 5L size instead of the 4L and it's £28ish from memory

                      silkolene do not do 0w40.... i use the above. atm i have 0w40 mobil in my engine and have noticed that it stays clearer a lot longer than silkolene so i'm thinking it may not be cleaning as well, i maybe wrong. personally i would prefer the greater cost of more regular oil changes to look after my engine. i'm no oil expert so have taken oilmans advice.

                          Hes a salesman mate hes going to advise his products over mobil.

                          Oil doesnt clean it protects

                          I think Regalvxr (darren) uses silkolene so i wonder what he thinks of it?

                          Only reason i asked mate was ive seen and read guys putting in 5w35 but not seen the 5w40.

                          ive asked Oilman for advice before but his advise wasnt very specific...
