  • Gearbox Issues!

Since buying my VXR from Keeno from on here iv had a problem with my gearbox. If i change from 1st to 2nd fast in high revs (6500-7000) it doesn't go in its gear it just grinds and when i hit the throttle it just rev like its not in. If i do it slightly slower or at lower revs it doesn't do this. i feel like my box mite end up jumping out. Im just wondering whether theres a fix for this or if anyone else has had it as its really getting on my ****. I went to the pod this weekend and looked like a complete **** when on the strip and fro no fault of my own. 4 different people have driven it and had the same problem so it cant be me or my driving style as no other car iv had has done htis either. Is this box chocolate or something?

    Cheers Guys.

Mine was notchy in low gears, but has drastically improved with new gear oil in after the fitting of my lsd. But i think the gearbox isnt the vxr's strongest attribute anyway.

i think its a common thing mate a bit of crunching into 2nd at higher revs. Mines done it a few times and i heard it loads at VXR power fest.

Although mine has never jumped out of gear it just crunches a tiny bit so maybe you have a problem mate?

Yeah. Im going to drive it till i blow it. Thought maybe it was something there was a fix for, as it seems to be that way with things on forums.

So does everyone have a little crunch into second even though thier clutch is planted to the floor?

Sounds like the bearings are shagged mate, I've just had my gearbox rebuilt due to it jumping out of 4th gear under the slightest bit of load and it cost me £1360 all in.

                  That was for new bearings
                  New 4th gear
New Clutch slave thingy lol and a load of other things I had replaced when it was out.

£1300 is alot for a chocolate box. Ill see what happens then change the car as i dont want a car with a c**p gearbox anyway not considering its ment to be a goo fast car. Lol. Ill go ST or evo next as at-least they dont have one bad part in them.

                        Cheers guys.

you are reving it too high then changing gears, if you change gears quicker it wont do the grinding noise
