    Be fairly close if your figures are bang on with yours and not an optimistic RR. 350Z would have to top end though.

      I'd say Astra all the way through the gears to be honest, despite them having 280bhp, they're not very fast at all. After going out in one I'd argue they weren't even as quick as my Type R was. Only advantage they have off the line is better traction beacause they're RWD

        Better traction but with it being over 100kgs heavier than the VXR the Astra should edge it!

          Power to weight wise;

          350z - 1450kg / 286 bhp = 203 bhp per ton

          Astra VXR - - 1400kg / 265 bhp = 192 bhp per ton

          Not much in it, it'd be tight.

          Standing starts, I'd lean towards 350z because of traction. Providing the start is good and rear wheels aren't spun too much.

          In gear, I wouldn't be surprised if the Astra got the jump. Torque is immediate in Astra's.

          You'll be able to drive the Astra VXR quicker on roads because it's a lot easier to hammer a FWD car and not unsettle it than it is a 350z.

          However the 350z is surprisingly agile, very good balance and strong brakes.

          Another point to note is that the 350z has an 80 litre fuel tank and feel noticeably less urgent when full, potentially you've got 60 extra kg's on fuel on board which will hurt it's power to weight a lot.

          When full, an Astra will "only" have 37 kg's extra.

            Astra VXR is actually 1330kg without a driver which Vauxhall add an approx driver weight to the equation.........

              You may as well scratch the bhp per ton figures then, I can never find a hard and fast weight figure for a 350z.

              Those weights are straight from Wikipedia.

                    My figures are from Wikipedia.

                    I'm informed;
                    VQ35DE Non-Rev Up - 286 bhp
                    VQ35DE Rev-Up - 296 bhp (but 10lbft less than Non-Rev Up)
                    VQ35HR - 309 bhp.

                    Imports are no different. They're all mapped for 98 RON.

                    You can use 95 if you wish, but you'll be down on power.

                    Not sure on that one, I never watch it so going by a quick flick through the technical regulations, maybe it's the driver that makes the difference?

                        Theres a lad with one here with a body kit on it lol. I know im at stage 3 with springs and rarb but i cant believe how much i pulled away from him they are so slow, he even stopped to talk to me and he even said he was trying. Could of been the driver on the roundabout but he just kept spinning round it whilst i was sitting up his **** in forth gear

                          Yeah I concur that the 350z aint that quick. I had a play with one in my std corsa, he pulled away from me, but not that much tbh. Up to about 60 he was tail was in line with my front bumper.... I'd have thought he'd had gone a lot further....
