  • Magnex full system and VXPC MAP

    Hi there,

Regarding my last post about which tuner to choose I decided not to go to courtneys in the end due to distance.

So after letting various other people down along the way(apologies) I decided to go the above route as I wanted to spend less than whats required for a stage 2.

I decided to go and have a magnex exhaust system fitted at Weston Performance in Solihull. They have one of the biggest 'Dyno Dynamics' rolling road in europe and it was designed specifically by their enginneer, greg. Their website is www.westonperformance.co.uk They have been fantastic and have helped me through my scepticism over what I was having done. They specialise in 'drifting' racing and have vast experience in tuning evo's and scooby's. Following this I went to VXPC in Banbury and got a map fitted to take into consideration the sports exhaust fitted. Dave and Tony were most impartial with what they had to say. They were brilliant and I had a quick tour . I did have reservations though as mentioned previously...no rolling road etc.

The results have been amazing and I have been thrilled with the power the car now has. The magnex system sounds incredible and I was a bit sceptical at first bearing in mind that I had never head it before. The sounds are similar to the milltek and when you but it you have that amazing scream from the back and the popping through gear changes.

I went back to Weston to have my car put on the dyno. I wil endevour to scan and print the results as I only have a peice of paper at the moment but here are the results.

    Max Bhp - 260 - flywheel
    torque - [email protected]
Bhp at the wheels - 220

My car has just over 4000 miles so hopefuly this will improve but if i'm honest I don't think the VXR needs more power to the front wheels. I must add that these results are what I expected. I didn't expect my car to run 280bhp. Because I have been advise many times that to get over 280 a bigger turbo is required.

Greg said the results were good considering the modifications already done.

I have the eco map from VXPC. Sports button off is a more balanced power delivery from standard. this takes time to get used to as it feels slower at the beginning but is much more usable.Sports button on and full power.

I have to say aside from Magnex Johns posts which I couldn't understand and didn't appreciate as a potential customer I was very impressed with system. The guys at Weston were amazed at how well it fitted and the actual design of the part. Magnex have been very informative and I would also like to thatnk them aswell and I hope it all goes well for them becuase I believe the milltek has the market at the moment.

I would go as far to say that the Magnex system is easily as good if not better than the Milltek. Unfortuntely I didn't do a before and after of the Magnex on alone. But I drove from Solihull to Bnabury with it on a standard map and there are definate difference in throttle response even sports button off. But of course there is that sound . They claim increases by 6bhp. Which I think is about right.

There are options out there. Choose wisely.

    Good going Mr boom!

Im pleased you are happy make sure you get the best out of the car, we are seeing more people with the Magnex systems now and its good we have a map suited to both Miltek and Magnex.

As for the dyno , you will be hard pushed to beat it, but I will always firmly believe that the results on the road are all that matters.

Happy motoring but remember those speed limits!!

I have just opted to replace the front decat pipe and then some sort of stage 1 remap.

I do fancy the full magnex but i am sure i could buy the cat back for completion later on etc. VXRPC is probably closest to me in South Wales etc which is important.

HOW IS THE SOUND OF THAT MAGNEX ???

I really want quite honestly a low rumble not too boomy or intrusive etc. Not prepared to have an extreme increase in volume while cruising etc.

VXRPC, did they recommend a change of air filter, some type of easy panel replacement that was actually considered a worthy change etc.

      Hmmmmm decisions decisions !!!!

Any pics please of that Magnex when warm from various angles. The ones i have seen are only straight from behind and probably do not do the system justice etc ???

      :? :? :?

We will be diong a similar thing with Miltek to be able to compete with the Magnex on price, De cat pipe and cat back system.

Stuart is very happy with his Magnex and I know he got really quite agrevated at the Level of bitterness that came out in the Magnex V Miltek debate.

He made his chioce based on value for money and supply so I guess he got his head around it,

I think the Magnex is possibly louder in certain rev range areas but there is very little to choose between them.

Im supposed to be biased towards what we actually sell, but Im giving an honest opinion on whats avail to the customers. Its your money at the end of the day.

Its good we can cover both systems with a remap that suites.

standard air filter replaced at regular intervals is fine and what VXRPC advise for everyday reliability.

              Hi,

Magnex not too loud or intrusive, sounds the same as the milltek...pretty much.

sounds fantastic when reved hard. I don't know what dave would say but the sound from the rear when we took it out after the map was done was somthing else
