Will Slick 50 engine oil additive benefit my car if I treat it from new or will it actually harm todays modern engines. I have treated some of my previous cars with Slick 50 but with modern technology I'm not too sure :?

    Any thoughts

    Cheers,
    Clint (AKA MR F Quick)

      touchy subject.

      heard different reports about slick50.

I would not put it in my car.

was ok with the old thick mineral oils but now we have fully synthetic oils and i cant see the need for it.

Not for me, it is said that this stuff builds up carbon deposits when it gets realy hot. You would be better off with ZX1, but i would say how safe are they, do thay degrade the oil ?, if shell wanted it in there oil thay would put it in.

I thought the same and put some slick 50 in my new Astra Sport 2.0 after I picked it up ( only 13 miles on the clock ) and after 500 miles the engine died, thick black smoke,no power, the works. The car was at the dealers for nearly three weeks, dont know what had happened ( didnt ask ) because I was keeping quiet about the slick 50!! But it was totally fine after that.
