  • Recall

Had a call from the dealers today..
There's a recall for the coilpacks on the VXR.
so its booked in for next Saturday to get them changed.
They wanted me to leave it with them during the week but I like to be there when my car goes in...I've heard too many stories about customers cars being taken out for a spin.

hmmm, sadly not just dealerships and garages. my uncle left his new merc at an airport carpark and returned 3 weeks later to find confetti in the back seat. i think you can guess what they had been doing with it!

Stu Harris mentioned this a while ago now. It's not a recall as such but something called a field notice. I'm suprised the dealer called you about it though...you must have a good dealer! I believe it is something to do with the spark plugs fitted at the factory...the gap isn't right and a high voltage demand could cause damaged to the igniftion coil. All four spark plugs need to be replaced.

I had a problem with my car mis firing but that was due to a loose spark plug. However, I contacted customer services and provided them with my VIN and my car is affected also. The dealer won't do warrenty work unless they can find a fault (something about charging it back to Vauxhall) so I'll have to do some chasing in order to get this done.

            Hi Ian
It's deffo the coil pack(s) which are going to be changed not just the plugs
I dont really know the reasons I'll get more info when the car goes in next week.

Some cars have had probs with the coil pack.

It is a field notice and it refert to both items but a TECH2 check should throw up some trouble codes. these should be matched to those listed on the TIS page.

I had the plugs done and its loads better. the gap was too large ang the spark was being blown out thus a uprated plug with a smaller gap.

No it should not but if the dealer happens to down load an update then you will need to go and get the re-map done again. but the dealer should not be downloading updates its just to check the trouble codes in the fault memery of the ECU.

What colour VXR are you driving and spec.
Are you local then,I may have seen you driving around.
There is a couple of blue VXRs that are near me in Chilwell,I also sometimes see a blue one going towards the a60 or 614 Mansfield.
