Hi All new to the forum and are desperatly saving up for a astra vxr. I've been browsing for months and have really enjoyed the forum until today. I've just clicked on a topic that has now been removed which asked me to click on a link to a video, which I now no was spam. I am geetin all sorts of messages at the bottom of my PC now saying system alert, system has detected 71 viruses etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated to fix this.

Update. I have ran the 3 programs listed above. The system alert says I have 18 viruses or whatever. B4 I ran these programs there were 71. Malwarewiped has automatically popped up to show the 18 viruses but it wont let me delete em. It asks me for my email address and serial number. Anyone give me advice. sorry but I am pretty useless with computers.

                            Hi Jimster

Run 'AVG' on it (the anti virus package), and just follow the wizard through to remove the virus(es). I haven't used AVG before, but once it has finished the scan, if it finds any, a screen should follow saying something like; '3 Viruses detected, shall I delete them for you'?

These exploits are aimed at us men! I mean 'Click here to see Britney brutally blah blah blah...' is pretty damn tempting :P

If you decide to pay for some Internet security, I recommed the Kaspersky suite. It's not cheap, and as with other packages you have to pay yearly, but you wont have any viruses do damage to your mahcine - that's for sure.

How long have you had your PC for? Using the Windows restore feature wont remove the virus unfortunately, will just restore windows settings. I ask how long you have had the PC for, as it might be worth you completely re-installing Windows and start from fresh. A warning though, if you decide to, make sure you have the drivers which came with your machine. It's definately worth trying to remove the viruses first though, but if you are having real difficulty, the latter is an option.

Couple of packages to use on a regular basis.

                            AVG: [/url]http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/

                            Adaware:

Remember to update definitions on both packages before you scan

                            Good luck

                            Rob
