  • astra vxr quarter mile times

anyone know what a standard vxr will do a standing quarter in?

ive seen some vids and pics of cars doing around 14.5 @98-99 mph, but i was wondering if they where standard.

Yep, 14.5 is standard time, which is XE nova teritory, not bad really....

I would guess a P3 example would get late 13s tbh....

i used to have an xe nova that a i built for about 600 quid (i used to make the fitting kits mounts and hubs etc)

i had a nova turbo show car that used to drag race and show but this xe thing was somthing else. no where near as quick as the turbo one but infinitly more fun. looked like standard sri too.

the amount of people i upset in that car was unbelievable.

it depends on how modified the engine is AO , most people dont just stick a standard lump in

Andy, I recognise the name from Migweb etc, I thought it was you.. I think we may have met a few times and I have deffo bought some manta 400 mirrors off you! lol

Sorry for the terminology, the XE Novas (I have had a few!) are great fun and quick for what they are. In standard guise will pull off low to mid-14s all day if they are stripped...

My track toy is a 1.6 16v and that is also quicker than the lowly VXR!

Indeed the 1.6 16v in my Nova is only midly modified (if you count throttle bodies as mild! ) and that does the quarter in 14.8, so 0-90 its as quick as the VXR ish. Certainly (dare I say it) more fun than the Astra. But what a great daily driver the VXR is

                          I hardly think a 1.6 is quicker than a 240PS turbo lump.

                            Oh dear can of worms??

My 1.6 is a smidge under 190bhp and weighs 680kgs...

                            Do the maths...

                            A standing quarter in 13.9
