  • Insurance!

    Hi.

I'm 19 and got a VXR with a decat exhaust, lowered and an induction kit with a Dump valve. Does anyone know any cheat ways to reduce the insurance policy price without deliberately lying? I've already added my parents as named drivers etc. any other tips?

    Thanks

Hi there I'm afraid theres not really a lot of ways to make a huge change to the insurance. I too got my vxr when I was 19 and it cost me a bomb in insurance but it has come down significantly now. Are you getting online quotes or calling the insurer direct, I found that when I got a quote from the insurer online then when I called them they lowered the quote further. Unfortunately it's one of the drawbacks of owning a car like this at a young age. Good luck!!

I've been doing them through go compare. I basically need temporary cover for 3 months until March when I get 2 years no claims but at the moment nowhere is interested for less than £4,000 lol

Hi mate, I'm 20 years old and have 2 years no claims, I got a VxR and just have myself on my insurance as it's cheaper after the first year, I have declared every mod running stage 2.5 a insured up to 350bhp for £2,410 with Brentacre the only other that got remotely close was Adrianflux but they aren't very good when it comes to claims

Hope that helps, call them up and get a quote and whatever they say trust me they say they can't go lower but give them a competitive quote and they beat it

Yeah, but still...sounds a lot for a car to insure...saying that at your age (back in the day ha ha) my first car was a Ford Fiesta RS Turbo and the insurance cost me £1900 and i didn't mind paying it even though the car itself was purchased for a mere £800 haha

I declared subtle mods also, nothing major just remap, x-over delete, new fox racing wheels, even told them i had wind deflectors!

try adrian flux or green light mate, both specialise in modified cars, not sure on there policy for temp cover but worth a shot, im 27, 7 years ncb, fully declared, can add any mod and go to any stage map for no extra cost for 520 p/a, an this is my first car over 130 bhp, they sed with my ncb ill be lookin in the 300 mark next year :P

hes not complaining about it....heres merely asking for advice or tips on how to reduce it further than the quote hes had. i believe that's what the forums are for.

                      nice unhelpful comment there!!!

How is coming on a forum to say the price hes been quoted was too much/cant get a quote not the definition of complaining.....

Here's the helpful bit - only buy a car you can afford

hes bought the car, so he can afford it. and hes asking on the forum for that specific car for any pointers as he has been quoted a high amount. no mention of not being able to afford it or not....simply asking for pointers to reduce if any
