  • VXR insurance

Can I ask who you guys use for your Car insurance? I did have my Gsi tubby with Morethan, but apparently they won't insure me on a VXR.

The cheapest I've had so far is £680 from Direct line. I know that doesn't sound like much, but I was only paying £900 comprehensive on a 380BHP Escort Cosworth (all mods declared) two years ago!!!! And the GSi only cost me £400 to insure last year.

Anyone in particular I should be trying?

I've gone with elephant, they were the cheapest last year for the GSi, and they are the cheapest by far this year for the VXR. Next closest was admiral, which are the same company anyway. It made it loads cheaper to put a female on the policy aswell, cheaper by £200..... Very strange.

Forget direct line. They wont insure you if you get a remap.

      Cheapest I found was elephant.
      21 Years Old
      3 years NCB
      3 points
      Remap
      Milltek

Just me driving, the quote came up as £1550, added my mum to the quote, went down to £1140

Adding a Milltek made the premium go up £10 so just gonna add this to my renewal in Feb even though I don’t have a Milltek yet. Just incase my insurance were to go up when the renewal is actually active.

Privelage, if you have 4 years NCB, will undercut everyone else, I have 7 points, 24 male, 480 fully comp a year.

admiral do a multicar insurance. you get extra discount for more cars. your could do your mums, dads and brothers all on the same policy and get a nice big discount. i didnt do it cause i wanted to pay mine off monthly (the amount i pay for insurance i could have the most modded vxr in england ) but my mum, brother and dad got a really cheap quote.

Tesco quoted me 880 so if you try privelage it should work out cheaper for you than it is for me. I often think people so not spend enough time on the phone trying out different company, you can alway save hundreds. I often just phone round whenever I feel like to get a feel for the great insurers so I can try them when renewal comes up...

That is a very good price! I'm 29 with five years' no claims bonus, so mine should hopefully be as cheap as that then! Will try them in the Morning!

Cheers for all your advice guys, though I did wince at what some of you under 25s are having to fork out!

well i guess there are some advantages to getting old
more than insure mine for £205 ncb protected
no mods at present so i will probably have to change company and pay more when i do

Just phoned up Elephant to tell them I'm changing my car on Saturday, it's an extra £120 for me and the wife until the policy runs out which is in October, brings the total to £360 for the year, not bad I thought, (getting rid of the wifes MGF at last!!!!).

I'm 30 with full no claims, did have a 2 week ban for going a touch quick in my Calibra Turbo though :?
