  • MK5, CorsaD, Vectra C, Antara and Zaffy owners, Something new on the Horizon!

As above, on my recent work travels (and in this regard I am lucky in what I do, as I get to see this stuff in development) I was given some gumf about something new on the horizon for the MK5 Astra, CorsaD, Vectra C, Antara and the Zafira B, which might interest some of you looking for that OEM fit/look and functionality when it comes to replacing your radio in the car. Now bear in mind that not one but two companies collared me to ask what I thought/show me hwat our little chat had resulted in, and I must admit I was a bit chuffed with what I saw!

I have had a play with the one below(pre-prod model and not actually as you see in the promo shot) and it is actually quite impressive in that it has full steering wheel control functionality built in as well as full display Functionality and really is a plug and play solution. Company that is making it is called ACR- Zenec and will be distrubuted by Connects2 in the UK. The VW version has just been released in the UK.

Now specs well, off the top of my head, NAVI (on SD card. It is true 3d for certain cities in some areas i.e. London and you can put POI's like speed cameras), Bluetooth, DVD (unfortunately it switches off in motion (This cannot be disabled)), RDS radio, 4x50W, full usb and IPOD control and DVB-T functionality and is touch screen with dual zone.

When is it due well not exactly sure as yet but should be in the next 6 months. Unfortunately I was not allowed to take a picture of the actual model and was only allowed to take of the promo pic as the model was not exactly complete.

    So here it is.....

If you want more info type in ZE-NC2000 in google, and read up on the VW model to see what it will offer and for a few more pics of the NAvi etc

Now then below is the second companies product (the company shall remain nameless for now). This I have not seen a working model but they have promised to get me a sample ASAP when it is ready. Again like the above similar in spec but in this case you can have Picture in motion and you can have one or two additional things and something I am over the moon to hear, as they actually listened to my feedback and what would be a good function. So what is it..... Well simple for all you people crying out where is my oil pressure, engine temp, general Car data well how about the ability to integrated a OBDII interface (supplied parts will be available to purchase) and the Tyre pressure monitoring system (aftermarket TPMS). Pretty neat I think and taking Aftermarket integration to the next level.

So there pictures which admittedly are similar to the above albiet slightly different....

Will both come to the UK, well the first one yes as they have a distrubuter here, the second well maybe and something I am looking in to.

    Enjoy

Looks a really nice piece of kit that, seems the VW version retails for about £899 in Uk and 999€ in europe, not cheap but not too bad.

My mate works for Vauxhall and he rang me at the weekend to tell me about a double din unit that would be available form VX as a factory option but it was a touch screen and IIRC its Kenwood - £1200 ish. Is this the Kenwood one?

              It's a Pioneer unit.

Currently only available on "Corsa in Touch" models.

Corsa in Touch models are SXi 3dr, Design 3dr and SXi 5dr. Only engines at the minute are 1.2 16v A/C.

The unit looks quite different to the pics on here but the interface looks virtually the same.

On the SXi 3dr and 5dr, you're paying £740 for the unit.

On the Design 3dr, you're paying £1,115 for the unit.

Bear in mind, what you pay above are list prices. We'd be able to do a Corsa in Touch SXi for cheaper than a normal SXi list price.

On the Design, we'd only be able to get it very close but just over the list price of the normal Design model.

Your local dealers should have brochures for them, we've had ours for a month or so.

The one that vauxhall are flogging in the Corsa is just a normal double din headunit with a facia adapter. This aftermarket one looks much more OE than the vauxhall supplied one!!
