  • GT2860RS conversion advice please

In the future I'll be looking to achieve around 320-350bhp from my Astra VXR. Been reading through lots and lots of threads regarding the upgrade to the GT2860RS turbo and this sounds like a very good route to go down. My understanding is that this turbo will enable the car to run less boost but yet still achieving excellent power. Build quality and durability will be alot higher than the standard KKK units.

    Mains questions are as follows:

1/ How much power can be run on the standard ZLEH internals?

2/ What parts are required to fit the GT2860RS Turbo?

Hope someone will be able to help with these questions, or would be even better if someone has carried out this conversion.

Had a mk4 astra sri turbo running stage 3.5 @ 295bhp and 23psi of boost, went through 2 zleh turbos in 10k miles. Dont want to go down this route again

    Dale

From what other people have said in previous threads I think 310bhp is a safe limit for the internals. I could be wrong though!!
    Burg #332 - 270 bhp - gone
    Mazda 3 MPS - 490 bhp - gone
    Audi S4 - MRC stage 2/490 bhp....so far

Ill answer to the best of my abilities:

      1.) Up to 290-300ps
2.) True Equal Length Manifold with appropriate flange (like the one sold by Regal)

Have a read through Percy's VXR threads - am sure they will enlighten you especially if you want power without loads of boost

Plus you would need decent suspension, LSD, 4 pots etc etc, its not just all about the engine upgrades

If you want it to last then new pistons too, as a bit of insurance.

At 320Nm constant load your gearbox will start to fall apart. But you'll probably need to peak at 425-450Nm before that happens , tho expect the box too feel slack before then.

Oh and equal length driveshafts would be good , so bigger wings too. And an LSD.

And uprated engine and gearbox mounts.

And if you've lowered it then competition spec UJ's

Looks like a rather pricey conversion! Still tempted though
