Hi, why not buy a small bottle jack to keep in the boot, so much safer, cheaper to buy as well !

I got a draper bottle jack from my local motoring shop, was about £25 ish,
so much safer to use, them vauxhall ones seem so flimsy...

Would the closed height of 18cm get it under the VXR though? I tried my Dad's trolley jack and couldnt use it as the jack arm would hit the sideskirt before it was jacked up (spose i could of added some wood under the cup though which might of done the trick).

If u have a local halfords, they will probably let you try the jack under the car, (supervised by a halfords person of course) so u dont end up with one that doesnt fit.

Yeh, i bought a brand new mk4 on a 04 plate and it was from stock as they had stopped production (seriously doubt they'd be any still unregistered a year later)

Also the mk4 had a totally different jack kit which was in a pouch compared to the new vaux ones which are in foam or whatever it is

I've bought the set from ebay as they said they would post...wonder if a standard 18" would go in the boot with it or would i need a space saver of some variety to allow it all to fit in the wheel well?
