  • Its falling appart!!

Ive had my astra vxr since just before xmas and so far ive had new tail lights, faulty packing in the fornt seats, and the bar that stops the drivers door opening too far keeps coming loose, Not happy!!

I had my tail lights replaced because they fogged up, the new ones are just as bad, thats if they even changed them!! The service dept told me that one bloke is on his ninth set now

While it was in i complained that the leather was looking shabby on the front seats, when they looked at it they told me the base plate and packing uderneath was faulty, something they know about but just waiting for vauxhall to admit that they are crap and issue a repair order, On this one, it could be worth you popping in to you dealers for a check up on this, and no, i dont eat pies for a living so its not collapsed under the weight!

Dont know the technical name but its the little bar that slides in and out of the door as you open it, stops it opening too far, that keeps coming loose, even after tightening it countless times, booked it in to get done but they cant tighten a screw for another 2 weeks

I have had a few vauxhalls in my time and never had so many faults on one car, it might look good and fast as hot snot but my got its cheaply made.

i met a chap recently whos having similar problems with his door. annoyingly vauxhalls are pretty renound for it, and you end up with the odd one that has every problem possible. i hope nothing gets worse, or nothing else goes wrong. its a lot of money to fall apart

My drivers door was doing that, I just done it back up again and its been fine since.

I have the same problem with the seat, pleased to hear they gave you an explantion for it, I will have to make a visit to Vauxhall one day next week.
I have a difference of opinion to you.

Regarding the loose screw on the door-unscrew it and apply some `threadlock` Sorted !

ive tightened the bolt a few times and suggested that i thread lock them but they want it in to check it out incase it needs replacing, which is a fair one i suppose.

could do with a pic of the wear on the leather, mine is wearing but they have just told me that it is the way that leather is.

As for the other problems... I've had exactly the same and more.....

Yep! same here with the door strap, Have tightened it numerous times, also get a clicking noise from the front offside bumper when driving over rough ground, Rear seat creaks at the mounting aswell but still LOVE the car!!! Small price to pay for an otherwise Excellent car.

I noticed tha seat problem you mention in my car recently. BUT, it is not bad at all in my case. You can just see that the driver seat part where you sit on is not completely flat like the other side but has a little dimp in it after my bum.

The misty lights is of course the other problem on my car (like everybody elses). It doesn't bother me much though. There are bigger problems in life that misty rear lights in my mind.

There are 2 little things that I have found recently. The driver's door was starting to make a creaking sound when opening it, so I had the dealer lubricate it for me again.

The biggest problem now for me is that the remote key is not working all the time. When I press the OPEN button, it works all the time on first try. BUT when I push the LOCK button, I most of the time have to push it like 10 times before it finally works. Anyone had that problem?

I have full leather and have had the problems with the seat base - but NOT on the drivers side but the passenger side which the missus or anyone rarely sits in. Its been replaced once (May 06) but is worse that ever now which regards to similar problems to those you have all encountered so god knows what to do?

All I will say is that the full leather Recaros I had in my last car (Focus ST170) are FAR superior to the ones for the VXR and I had no problems with them in the 3 years I had the car

TBH the Recaros in my missus 3 year old Astra GSi were better than the ones in the VXR.

i think it is hit and miss, do recaro actually make the seat or do vauxhall/ford just use the name?

My last recaro seats in the astra mk4 were brilliant but creased a bit, bases were fine after 35k miles. My mum's old escort GTi had to have 2 new bases as they kept collapsing.
