  • Brake pedal 'wear'

Probably not solely an Astra VXR issue and maybe more a height thing but I thought I'd put it here anyhow.

I have noticed that one side of the brake pedal (the right side) is receiving more wear than the rest. This is because when I press the brakes, my right foot usually just catches the side of the pedal rather than fully square on.

I'm 6' 2" and my driving position is with the steering wheel up and out as far as it can go (to clear my knees) and I sit so that my arms are slightly bent and I sit in an upright position. The seat is in the bottom position and not tilted.

If I push the seat right back my right foot has more room to move around the pedals and I hit the brake pedal a bit more square on but for me I'm too far back from the steering wheel like this and don't have as good control over the car especially in tight turns.

Is this brake pedal 'wear' normal and is it detrimental in any way to the pedal box? How do other's right foot hit the pedal - at an angle like me or square on?

Probably just your height - I don't have any issues. Try and play around with the seat and wheel so it is at your most comfortable.

How far back do you have your driver's seat Worsy? What about the steering wheel positioning?

Em... and there's no signs of the right side of the pedal looking like it's catching more of your foot than the rest of the pedal?

I think I'm going mad. When I lift my foot off the accelerator pedal I pivot across to the brake pedal.

Do you think I should be concerned about any undue stress placed if I'm not hitting it full on every time? Should I go lie down and stop worrying about something like this? I mean at the end of the day I stop okay and there are no issues like people flying through the windscreen (braking too hard) or hitting the car in front.
