    Picked this up today

Ok finally got the call from R & D that the cage is ready, thanks to Roger for doing a very favourable deal and also insisting its made out of T45. Its a full international spec cage, although its in alot of bits at the mo!

So, anyone any good at jigsaw puzzles or k-nex?

Looks like a weld in one, so I doubt powdercoating would be an option. But your absolutely right, and arden blue cage would look superb!

As said it has to be tig/mig welded into place so powdercoating isnt on the cards.

Instead the entire inside of the car will be painted in vauxhall mistral grey with lots and lots of laquer on it. Its the same colour tripleeight paint the btcc chassis inside and underneath

Are you going to have to cut the roof off it to weld continuosly round the bars or drop it down through the floor to wel at the very peak of the cage?

Just asking because from experience in building rally cars they wont sign a rool cage off unless its a continuos weld around all bars and pay paticular attention to the roof bars?

Its damn dangerous not to have a continuous weld around a joint, any car should have all joints fully welded.

Therefore eyeballing the job the other day the cage will be mostly tacked into position and lowered off the chassis rails to have the top joints welded. Then lift it back onto the base plates and finish welding on all the other array of tubes

If i took the roof off, i bet id have yet another shade of arden blue on the car
