Warrenty question... HELP

[Rapid - VXR]

Took my Astra VXR to a vauxhall garage today as my sport button is not coming on or working in anyway what so ever.

However i was a tad peeved when they told me that my car may not be covered due to a HID kit that someone, who owned the car before me had put on.
Does anyone know if this is true, be good to hear from some of the dealerships on here?

And also if there is anyone in kent who had a tech2 machine that could also be helpful and probably save me £50.

Any feedback welcome as dont wanna fork out on a car that is supposed to be covered under warrenty... Surely a HID kit cant go through the ECU??

I shouldn't think the HID kit should void the warrentee, Your no where near the sport button switch.

I live in basildon if ya wanna pop through the tunnel one evening and plug in my laptop, scan for any error codes etc.

Yeah but as you said, a bit harsh refusing interior work because of a change of headlights.

Well, my air con was stuck ON all the time for 6 months and they then found out it was the instrument panel, as the tech explained, EVERY thing connect to the IP, so, it could be a case that the HID has upset something, maybe the IP.

A friend of mine works in a dealer as a salesperson, and he also said that warranty and mod dont mix well together.

It is really down to individual dealership, where about are you in Kent? I highly recommended perrys at dover for any warranty work, they have been ace for me, hth.

If they can link the the sports button not working to the fact that the headlights have been modded then thats normally when they refuse, but as Paul has said some are just funny about it and if modded at all will turn you away.

I had a special edition VX with all 4 limited edition alloys that peeled off paint in the first year.
They refused to replace them or repair.
I purchased like for like replacement alloys from VX which could only then be had in a different colour.
It was then refused warranty on an electrical fault 'because the wheels are non standard'.

Thanks for the responses, Phatashki i may well take to up on your offer . And i also found out that the trim on the car is only covered for 1 year as well...
I did the brake and throttle check and nothing came up!!
I just hope its not expensive

Brake and throttle test only brings up the codes stored in the engine ecu and not in any of the others, maybe nothing in the engine side of thing's but could be a code in the instrument panel ecu

Tbh m8 that sounds just stupid... i was going to get a piper for mine.. then chose a remus as vauxhall specialised in it. As i did not want to void my warranty, went to my local stealers and enquired about the remus and there response was " Remus? what is a Remus?"

I then turned round and walked out and thought to myself omg these people know nothing!! i did not get one in the end there was just too much messing around and too many ppl who did not have a clue what they were talking about.
