  • Urgent Question! Which Oil For Quaife LSD?

Hi guys, my VX tech has just called to ask if he needs to use any special transmission oil when fitting my LSD. Does anyone have any ideas? I've had a quick search, but can't find anything. Please help! x

My tech asked the same thing when they were doing mine. It will be the standard dexron or whatever it's called. You can go a different type but the standard stuff listed in their TIS should be fine.

Just called my tech and he said that he had spoken to one of the old timers at the garage and he told him that with the older style diffs, you had to use specialist transmission oil, but this isn't needed with the modern diffs. Sorted, ..will have my car in about another hour!! Thanks for your help guys xx

The synthetic is Castrol synthetic gear oil, 75W SMX i think, and there will be other equivalents in each brand, costs a bit more but as I said, the standard stuff should be fine, hth

OMG guys, ..the diff is mental!!!! Still getting used to not having to steer it so much into the bends, ..but wow, you can feel it really put the power down in a way you couldn't feel before. It's a life-changing mod for the Astra!!! Right, ..off out again!!! xx

Hi Paula - Quaife state the following - "...std grade of transmission oil as specified in your vehicles service manual or SILKOLENE Pro SRG75 avail through Quaife "

EDIT:- I'm slightly surprised your guy asked as within the box there is a leaflet telling you the above. Obviously just seen the date of your original post, this obviously wont help you now, but others may benefit

I imagine Oilman could help with transmission oils anyway ?
