  • Flooded my engine

Went shopping a few weeks ago on a sunday and the rain poor is scotland was mad!
Was driving along a quiet road and didnt see a big puddle flooding the whole of the road infront and only managed to slow down and go through it instead of stoppin and turning back as someone was coming up behind me really close

engine started smokin abit as i went through it then the clutch went weird for abit but it still drove so i kept going in order to dry it out as a mate told me if i turned it off id make things worse.

so a few weeks on and the cars fine and drives fine but whenever i start the car up theres this little chocking noise coming from it just as i start it and only for a few seconds and its buggin the hell out of me.

think maybe theres still some water left in there?

any ideas what i can do to fix it?

im crap with cars to be honest otherwise id not have this prob. really annoyed that i wasnt going slower on such a wet day!!!

kind of summed it up yourself really! the guy chasing you was he?!
if you had water in there then im sure youd have more problems than a few niggles on start up!! possibly water in the induction tho! take it apart from the scoop backwards and see if you see any evidence of water. you may have gotten the starter wet, or some of the electrics!

Touch wood, if I ever see a puddle in front of me and I think it is deep enough to cause some damage to the car, I would just put my hazard lights on and wait til the road clears and turn myself around.
