  • corsa and astra gearbox

Do the astra and corsa gearboxes have the same gear ratio if so would it be a straight swop into the corsa?

cuz my gearbox has been whining in 1st and 2nd for a couple of weeks now

The Gearbox/Diff's are the same but the ratio's are different.

I can't imagine a gearbox could strain an engine, but an engine could strain a gearbox if it wasn't strong enough

Well that wouldnt be an issue as the astra is arguably longer geared and therefore stronger.

I would imagine it would affect the acceleration and general running, maybe resulting in a sluggish start but a comfortable cruiser. That and youd have to re-calibrate all your redlines...

Be fun to put the corsa box in the astra........ top end would be affected but be great midrange.

not just final drive, for example the astra can hit 60 in second, corsa cant

hmm was off the belief that wasdue to larger profiles and wheels! im sure stu mentioned it was only final drives
