If I was you I'd just spend the money and buy some uprated pistons and conrods at least then you know the engine is safe and it won't go again my car is 3 years old and piston 4 has gone twice

IMO Ignore the above. Not everybody is lucky enough to get a new engine every year

Should your piston go Regal and Courts both now do replacement internals. MattBibs on here is spot on for VX parts should you ever need them

So is it a case of if the cars warmed up and cooled down properly everything should be alright if it got rebuilt with standard pistons?

One group quoted me around £4000.

Two other groups quoted me alot less to help me out.

In the end mine was sorted out under warranty!

If your car is running OK at the moment and you don't currently have a problem with piston 4, I find this a rather strange question to ask!

To me it's like saying "How much for a new front end if I run up the backside of the car in front"....it's a bit like tempting fate!!!

regal have done 6 cars running over 270bhp with std pistons mate, all ok and 2 have been done over a year now and 1 has done 30,000 miles.

ps: also i bet tms, courts and mpg have cars running nice power with std pistons.

Have a looksey mate, see what you think.

Standard pistons are fine in the majority of cars.
