  • Mis-fire?

Noticed this a couple of times now, typically in 4th gear when my foots to the floor. Gets to about 5k revs then get a tonne of noise from the milltek, pops and bangs and as soon as this happens I instinctively get it out of gear! Car losses power at this point too. I think it happened high up in the revs in 2nd gear this morning as well :/

It sound like i'm hitting the rev limiter at ~5k revs and imagine a load of soot getting shot out the exhaust in the gun fire bangs.

Does this sound like a mis-fire? If so how much are a new set of plugs and where from?

Got my 3rd service due (Think it's third?) and MOT (07 plate on 26k miles.) Would plugs get changed or is this about 50k miles too early!? Think they get changed at 80k ish?

Also, how much are coil packs?

How can I test to see what is wrong myself? Might just hand it over to Thorney for the MOT, service and this problem!

-ESSENTIAL DISCLAIMER- Car is always warmed up and cooled down, lol.

    Thanks guys,

    Wayne

Are you getting the elm light on at all?

I think some diagnostic checks would be a good idea, a compression test being one of them. Coil packs are around the 100ish mark.

I think they are done in the 4th year service which is what my car is needing, i'll call vauxhall tmoz.

Are there any type I need? I don't want to go to a non vauxhall garage and they put ones designed for a 1.2 in lol!?

Ah ok, thanks to dean_arctics part number I have realised they are not as expensive as I thought!

Can someone clarify that I should order this set: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NGK-SPARK-PLUG...#ht_1927wt_905

Are they simple to install myself? Is there a guide?

EDIT: Hmm these are platinum, perhaps I should just stay OEM.

I'm yet to see a set of plugs that last to the 4th service without developing miss fires. They will wear out quicker on a tuned engine.

                            What's astons user name?

I'm happy to just pay the £20 but need to know if it's correct.
