problems

my gear box has just started to wine when i pull away from a stand still and
when i change gear from 1st to 2nd it sometime crunched aswell whit the clutch peadel full pressed down and
in 3rd and 5th gear when i accelorate my gear stick moves back and fourth

i was just wondering what the problem is i was thinking clutch realeas bearings or is it just a warn clutch or new gear box

any help in this matter would be helpful thanks

Could be a straight forward gearbox problem mate; mine is currently up for discussion on replacement

Sounds like the synchros/diff are worn. You may need a replacement as vx won't replace anything inside a gearbox as it's cheaper to just replace

Its the bearings worn in the gearbox thats what gives the excessive movement in the gearstick especially in 5th. The sooner u get it looked at the better. If it fails completely then it will be a complete new box.

New gearbox by the sounds of it bud, just had mines done for the lovely whining sound.. Had survived 37,000 miles

what do you mean excessive movement in 5th ? it shouldnt move at all if its in that gear ?

If it's whining it's the diff worn or it's low on fluid! If it snaps out of gear or crunches when selecting it's the synchros. If it's diff then just replace with a LSD and new bearings. If it's synchros then it needs a gearbox rebuild and probably cheaper, easier and quicker to get hold of a good condition used box. The gearboxes are prone to leaking fluid out so have a look around the bottom of the gearbox and see if there's fluid or get it checked and topped up if necessary. If it's driven without fluid then it will blow the diff out the box or cause damage to synchros

Don't understand how the whining means its the diff mate.
I still get whining and ive got and lsd and changed my oil..

yes me too i only had my lsd fitted at the beggining of june by my tuner aswell so i know it has been done well and would i lose that much oil in such a short time

Well I was a mechanic for a few years and decided to do something else so I know what I'm on about. It was a suggestion to what the noises "normally" are. If the diff has only been fitted for a short while then it possibly isn't that. Let's face it..there isn't much to a gearbox apart from synchros, diff etc etc but do to the nature of how complicated a gearbox is inside it can't be rebuilt by a normal garage normally, it would be sent off to a specialist. When you bought your car new it wouldn't of whined?....so that indicates there is defiantly a problem. If you take it to get checked they will only say one of the above what I have already said.
