  • Friendly Mazda RX8 Banter

Just been having a discussion on FB with a mate.

He owns RX-8 240bhp recons he would leave me for dust after a mile.

Is this the case, know on paper 0 to 60 is close and the top speed is close aswell.

    Cheers,

    OS

guy at work has one, I just remind him about his £400 tax

Also he's down on torque compared to us

But claims its a real car as it's rear wheel drive there for I must be slow lol.

Im speaking from experience here. I owned the 190bhp version (which has more torque than the 240bhp version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

The RX8 is slow end of.

Which is why i sold mine lol

The only good thing about it was the cool "Beeeeeeeeeeeep" sound it made when it was time to change gear!

there rubbish, far too thirsty, far to expensive to tax and not worth the premium.

My dad has one, they are a great car. I love it, lovely interior and I love the note from the engine. The are v.low on torque though, just a characteristic of the rotary. This means you have to rev the **** outa it to get the power, like the vTec. Means when you want to go quick you have to time it, for overtaking and all that.

Havin' driven it and the Astra VXR I'd say it'd be close enough if he rev'd it right. They also aren't 240, they are 230 and many don't make that power. Get him on the rollers so we can see the graphs.

Theres a few vids on youtube of the Corsa vs RX-8.

IIRC the corsa wins them all.
