  • heres a question? SRi vs vxR

duno if this been threaded b4 but has the corsa SRi 1.6T got the exact engine as the vxR?
Was discusing it with my felow vauxhalian workmate n he thinks the vxR must have something difrent ie injectors to have the extra 40bhp?
Were as i think its identicle just running a diffrent map? So in theory you could have the SRi running like a vxR..minus the brakes and suspension!
So i thought id grill you lot... Any ideas?

After speaking to John Thorne he assures me the engines are identical. The ECU is the only differing factor as far as BHP & torque is concerned. He also went on to say that with a simple remap you can have VXR performance with cheaper insurance costs. (Haven't looked into insurance so don't know).

But as far as I can see, if your going to modify the suspension, brakes, exhaust and interior any way then personally I don't see a reason to purchase a VXR. Just my opinion of course.

Does the SRi have the 6 speed or 5 speed gear box?

This cant be true because if its the same engine and just the fact that the sri is a lower map, tunners should be able too make better gains with an sri. I think internals are different too.

Is it a differnet Turbo? Like Z20LET/Z20LER have different turbo's from the Z20LEH

The sri has the same turbo / same gearbox/ engine as the vxr / astra 1.6 turbo / meriva vxr, just a different map. What a qcar once tuned.

There isn't much in the price once you add the VXR styling pack to it..

3 BHP and about 30 Nm less... not so bad i think
