  • Headunit/ipod question

    Hi all,

Is there anyway of controlling an ipod from the headunit rathr than using an ipod itself. I'm used to using my DVD screen in my clio and controlling it from there and is a right pain when I'm driving using the ipod in the VXR!

    Thanks in advance

Yeah I know about that mate, cheers, but it seems a little bulky for me. I think what I am after is a 3.5mm jack to do both connect to the headunit and charge at the same time. I don't think there is one available atm though!

Is it just the one lead that you have in the car connected to the ipod? Have you got any pics of the set up too?

To charge the ipod you will always need an extra lead. ie one lead for aux (audio) and another to your 12v socket to charge it.

The aux socket does not provide any power whatsoever. It litterally is an auxillary audio input, which you can connect any audio source to (phone, mp3 player etc etc.)

If you wish to connect your ipod via one cable and have remote control, and charging then you need to replace the head unit in your car to one that comes with a full ipod dock / cable....
