  • Tuning box, Good or bad idea?

    Hi everyone, im looking to increase my Vxr's bhp and was wondering if these tuning boxes I keep hearing about are any good?
    The main one I hear about is TDI Tuning and they claim that it will do no harm to the engine etc
    They also claim 236bhp with 283Nm Torque which is sort of the power im after at this stage.

    Have any of you had one of these boxes?

    Cheers in adavnce

    Not heard of them but bluefin is ment be good option too perhaps worth a look,but if you really want and can afford best bang for buck is going be stage one tailored to your car on rolling road

      People are genuinely against generic maps on here.

      These maps that bluefin etc offer are based on a 'test car' not your specific car... Problem is alot of cars run different, so this test car might not be same set up as yours. We could both flash the map on our vxrs, yours may be ok mine not, running lean etc.

      The one you mentioned I think reacts to the cars ecu and sensors etc but still not same as hands on by a professional

      Like mentioned above the best option is to go to a specialist tuner who will put a map on your specific car by running tests and getting everything set to the right parameters. Especially the bhp your looking at... As that's stage 3 figures.

      Stage 1 generic map may still be safe though just not tested safe, plus for 240 you will need supporting mods. I would not put a 240 map on a standard car

        As you are in Ireland try SBR Tuning;

        https://www.facebook.com/SBRTuning/

        They are a dealer for the Tuning Society - a.k.a Rabbid - who is one of the recommended VXR mappers.

        They is absolutely no reason to risk going for Bluefin/Quantum or one of those tuning boxes unless you are miles away from any proper mapper.
        Corsa C 1.4 (SOLD), Corsa D SRI Turbo (SOLD), Facelift Corsa D 1.4 SE (SOLD), Now Corsa E VXR...plus about 20 other non VXs
