Wheel Bearing Dead

Hi All - posted last week to say i had a loud hum from the rear and wondered if it was a wheel bearing. Got good feedback and finally took it to the dealers last night who checked it out and told me that the rear offside bearing was on its way out. He also mentioned he had done a few Corsa VXR bearings already. Two questions really:
If it is happening so often why is it not a recall issue?
How long can i potentially keep driving?
The noise is getting louder - last week i could drown it out with loud music but this week can still hear it. The mechanic said it was unlikely to seize but worried about doing damage to new tyre on that corner. Dealers ordering the part today under warranty so hopefully fixed next week. Also it needs a new climate control part on another different recall!!!

i think because it is cheaper just repalcing the problematic one

when i need replace my second rear bearing - was waiting for it 6!!! weeks - just CS in UK send my this one earlier (thx for that), my dealer was waiting for it 8 weeks !!!!!!!!!! fooook sick...

i dont think is safe to drive with this one any more, as you never know when it can colapsed completly - my opinion...

new it was your berrings,is your car 07 if so i had a recall on my abs at the same time as the berrings were fixed ,i would not have knowen this if it was not for me getting berings fixed ,that was 3 weeks ago
