Hi there. had the same thing when I first bought my car 3.5 years ago. Turned out that the garage just needed to download some new software. Since then everything on the car has been fine (other than the usual indiactor mad blinking scenario which the garage fixed). Must admit each time it goes in for service I now make a note of the current software version to see if it has been changed.

    Hi,

Not sure how others work but I find the VXR8 cruise control works at just below 30mph

Ive had this twice, I had the codes read by a member on HSV.ORG it came up with "crank sensor" well I drove it there and back so it wasnt that, and covered around 2k in it since it last happened.

One of the 8s little glitches

It sounds like DTC code C0561 - This set if the the traction control section of the ABS is receiving data it considers "Invalid"
DTC C0561 - See decription below

    Circuit Description

The electronic brake control module (EBCM) disables the traction control when other electronic control modules set DTCs for components that effect the operation of the Traction Control System (TCS).

    DTC Descriptor

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:

DTC C0561 System Disabled Information Stored

    DTC Symptom

    DTC Symptom Descriptor

    71

    Invalid Serial Data Received

    Conditions for Running the DTC

    The ignition is ON.
Ignition voltage is greater than 8 volts.
    Conditions for Setting the DTC
The powertrain control module (PCM) or body control module (BCM) diagnoses a condition preventing the engine control portion of the traction control function and sends a serial data message to the EBCM indicating that torque reduction is not allowed. The PCM or BCM will typically set a DTC and the EBCM will set this DTC.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The EBCM disables the TCS until the DTC becomes a history DTC.
The Traction Off indicator turns ON.
The Antilock Brake System (ABS) remains functional.

    Conditions for Clearing the DTC
The condition for the DTC is no longer present and/or the DTC is cleared with a scan tool or on next start cycle.
The EBCM automatically clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles.
    Diagnostic Aids
This DTC is for information only. As an aid to the technician, this DTC indicates that there are no problems in the ABS/TCS system.

However, not wanting to insult, you understand that the cruise control won't work below 40mph?
but with the TC, it takes a second or two for it to kick in sometimes, I know that from experience
Yeh I understand about cruise not working below 40 and the TC so still confused !!

started a topic First Problem with my 8 - Any Ideas ?

First Problem with my 8 - Any Ideas ?

Well for the last few days I have been experiencing an intermitent problem with my VXR8
For no apparent reason the Traction Control & Cruise Control either work or dont work - yes I know thats how they are supposed to
Its seems they are linked in that somedays everything works fine and then another day neither the Cruise Control and Traction Control work at all.
Its never 1 or the other that dont work is both. I can go to work in the morning and they could be fine and then come home later and nothing
Totally confused me - any ideas anyone ??
Working...
