Huge difference mate, shifts are shorter, firmer and cleaner. 2-3 shift is assisted by strong springs. Well worth it. Its not too bad to fit yourself if you want to save a few quid and just buy the shifter from whoever.

When I first got mine fitted I thought it would be undriveable when I got in; the sideways movement on gear changes is very greatly reduced. But you do adapt and it feels normal after a short while. It's different from standard but that's not necessarily an improvement IMO. You could try one out first if you are unsure.

Best first mod to get! www.hsv.org.uk will confuse and educate on the subject.
          Insignia VXR, quite nippy!

Best first mod is the driver's door mirror IMO.
