  • Vectra CDTi

Not sure whether to put this in General chat or in here. Probably best in here as some of you may have upgraded to a VXR from a CDTi.

    Anyhow a family member is purchasing a 2004 Vectra 1.9 CDTi SRi , 150

I was wondering if there are anything to look out for before they get the car ?

I had a Auto Express recently that had a buying guide for the Vectra C but binned it, now i could do with it !

    Any advice/help would be appreciated.
    Cheers.

1.9 cdti's prone to swirl valve , egr valve failure also dual mass flywheel failure on higher mileage cars , make sure you get a warranty with it but apart from that great cars

I have a good history on the 1.9 CDTi 150, so hopefully this will help.

My first was bought new in March 2004, an SRi CDTi 150, did 64000 miles in 2 years, never one issue and my brother bought it off me and has now done 93000 miles again with no problems.

My second was another new Vectra SRi CDTi 150 bought in March 2006, kept this for a year and covered 30000 miles in it, again not one issue.

Now I have an Astra SRi CDTi 150 which is coming up to a year old and 30,000 miles, and again never had one issue.

I have never suffered an EGR or swirl valve problem. Dual mass flywheels on cars after 2006 do tend to be smoother than the early cars though.
