  • 18"'s Vs 19"'s

After looking at tyre prices, I cant believe the difference between 18's and 19's!!! Its like £50-60 a tyre.

Thinking about a new set of rims anyway, so if I was to go down to 18's am I gonna miss anything going down a size.
Do i need to change anything on the car? like tech 2 to say it has 18's etc etc...
225/40/18 is the right size? whats the offset I should have???

All i know is over time I will save a fortune in tyres!!!

Anyone will tell you that the car will handle far better on 18's and that combined with saving you a few quid must be good.

Are you going to put the KW's on 1st, as this can affect what offset & rim width you might want?

I am not sure really Flinty, I thought after I get the rims to get the ride height right?
I am a mere amateur and wouldnt really know.
Are the offset different for the 18's than the 19's then?

I think that the standard offset for 18"/8J would be ET45 mate with 225/40 rubber

Eventually I will get round to putting the KW's on, But i will do the wheels first. A few seem to think the car will handle much better with 18's anyway.

So is the standard rubber 225/40/18 with an offset of 45 right?

Just need to make sure, although I hole heartedly trust Flinty, despite seeing his picture in the Face to a name Thread!!!

Right mate, the things I do , I managed to get under the car this afternoon & have a look for the OE offset for the 18's & they are 8J ET39 mate!!

I'm sure that you can go to ET45, but the OE is ET39

I had 35`s on my old Vectra, with no problems, they sat out nicely . Some of the irmscher wheels are 35`s ...

I prefer the look of the 19"s but 18"s are cheaper for tyres, a better ride and allegedly (according to old skool folk) better off the mark.
