    Hi peeps,

Well due to being house bound as i was injured whilst at work i have been getting very bored. So, i decided i would give the VXR a GOOD clean which has taken 4 days to do! However, due to the freezing weather ive only been spending around 3/4 hours a day on it if that.

    Day 1:

Very, very cold. Started off by washing and detailing my folks car which took up most of the day. Managed to use my new snow foram lance on the VXR though - great fun!. Washed using the 2 bucket method with Turtle WSax Pro car shampoo which suds up great and a lambs wool mitt. After was was rinsed and clayed all over and then washed again. Car was then taken to the garage and dried off.

    Day 2:

Started off by doing as much correction as i could by hand as i dont have a polisher yet using Chemical Guys (CG's) Scratch + Swirl B-Gone. Then applied CG's Pro Polish+ with Acrylic shine followed by CG's EZ-Creme Glaze with Acrylic Shine. Then CG's Jetseal 109 which was left for an hour to cure. Re-applied another coat of Jetseal 109 which was left over night to cure.

    Day 3:

Removed the Jetseal which had been left on over night. Added another layer of Glaze but decided to use CG's Wet Mirror Finish as i wanted to see what the combination of the two glazes would be like. After the glaze applied CG's Cherry Wet Wax. Then applied a layer of Petes 53 Carnuba was to the car and wheels, left to cure for 30 minutes and taken off. Applied another layer of Petes 53 to the Body work and wheels and left overnight to cure.

    Day 4:

Removed the wax from overnight. Cleaned the tail pipe with Peek pro clenser and all other 'shiny' bits. Cleaned the engine Bay with an all purpose cleaner, waxed all the engine bay using Petes 53. Windows cleaned using Auto Care galss cleaner. Tyre walls cleaned with Original Black to make them look wet and new. Another layer of Petes 53 Wax was applied to the car during this and was left for around 3 hours to cure and taken off before i finished. In some of the hard to reach areas used Auto Glym instant show shine spray.

I am very happy with the final result and some of you may be thiking ive got OCD but this has the only thing that has been keeping me sane . Cant wait to see the finish i get with a polisher if this is how it comes up by hand. All of the products used are as follows:

    Turtlewax Pro Shampoo
Chemical Guys - Glay and Lube Spray
    Chemical Guys - Scratch+Swirl B-Gone
Chemical Guys - Pro Polish + with Acrylic Shine
Chemical Guys - EZ - Creme Glaze with Acrylic Shine
    Chemical Guys - Jetseal 109
Chemical Guys - Wet Mirrior Finish Glaze
Chemical Guys - Cherry Wet Wax
    Chemical Guys - Pete's 53 Carnuba Wax
Auto Glum - Instant Shown Shine
    Car Plan - Original Black
    Auto Care - Glass Cleaner
    Peek Pro - Metal/alloy polish

        Nice work, looks spot on.

Put the AG Instant Show Shine in the bin, its full of nasty silicones that do your paint no favours.

lol, i know, used to use it alot on my last car but havent in a while since i became addicted to detailing, only use it where its hard to wax and on areas you cant really see and is the first time i used it on the VXR.

It will come with time and finding the right products is the main thing, i like chemical guys products and Petes 53 wax but am going to be trying out some dodo juice in the near future.

Very good Jay, beats filling in forms on the day job I suppose. Brave of you to have left the wax to cure overnight, was it much of a ball-ache to remove after such a long curing time ?

Not at all, made sure that i only put a thin coat on as i feared that problem but it came off very easily.

looks very nice jay, the trouble i have is the lack of a garage to keep my car in, makes doing that kind of detail very hard to do.

I spent 7 hrs at the weekend on my car giving it a good snowfoam, wash and a wax top up including all door shuts and the complete wheel rim on all 4 etc, now i dont want to drive the bloody thing
