Machine Polisher Christmas Present Guide

Well for beginners it would seem that the Kestrel DAS-6 polisher from www.i4detailing.co.uk seems a good bet and comes highly recommended.

I have order lots of stuff from i4detailing as well and they are good.

But what I would like to get is a list of what I or indeed anyone else would need to get everything you need to use a machine polisher and where you get it from and costs involved.

So can someone please start a list of what is needed. MAYBE MAKE THIS A STICKY IF WE GET SOME GOOD INFORMATION?

I now would be interested in knowing this too, so are the VXR's got soft or hard paint finishes so we know what to buy etc ??

Same here, I hope to get one for Christmas so any tips on what we need in total would be really helpful.

Under the machine polishers menu at the side click on the Kestrel DAS-6 Duel Action Polisher. DONT GET A KIT TRUST ME

Then under pads and backing plates, select 6" Sonus pads, get a yellow, white and red.

Then under polishs, get some Menz's 3.02 and Final Finish

It may cost you a little more but well worth it. Thats what i would get if starting off again.

You can get similiar prices and packages from verious detailing sites, may be a couple of quid difference in prices but not alot

If we snow foam, and then clay, we need then need to do the following:-

SRP or Lime Prime Lite
Wax or Sealant and Wax

Do we use the medium pad for the SRP or LPL and then the smooth pad for the wax?

I read you should not mix products on pads so do we need more than one a particular type of pad?

I really would like a step by step guide of products (types of product not specific products) and pads and which to use with which if someone could spend a few mins to help us.

Good questions Jenga as I thought you apply with a cloth and then machine polish off with the different pads ?

As a rough guide for you i would do something like this:

1/ Pre-wash with snowfoam lance
2/ Wash 2 bucket method
3/ Rinse
4/ Clay
5/ Wash again
6/ Rinse
7/ Dry
8/ Apply the SRP using yellow Sonus SFX pad

Now if you using lime prime lite it contains no abrasives so i would apply it with a sooft buffing pad, this being the red Sonus SFX pad. Apply wax's by hand with an applicator pad, i found the Meg's applicator pads okay and just use a microfibre cloth to buff off.

If yoour applying a sealant again use the red Sonus pad and buff off with a microfibre cloth. I have verious pads now but one each of the sonus will do you to start with.

do i need to buy any backing plates with this lot as im gonna be buyin it all
