Was wondering is it better to use cruise control or not on a long journey to get the best fuel consumption?

Cruise control is boring never used it in the 3 yrs of owning my car, it can aid fuel consumption though

V8, not for everyone but 10/10 for your effort.

I find that I can drive more economically that the cruise control, as I can see how big the hills are ahead, and dont mind losing a few mph on the way up, only to pick them up again on the way back down, the car cannot obviously see how much of a climb is ahead. The downside to driving very economically is, its bloody tiring, and requires an amazing amount of concentration. For the miles I do, I just take the hit, and keep myself amused!
