  • Warranty advice - please comment!

Right i need to check before i ring them as id like a straight answer which vaux dont appear to want to give!

The mother in law has a twintop 58 plate so well within waranty, now when driving around with the roof UP it is rattling and creaking something chronic, quite bad actulay and i was surprised. She is almost embarrased to let people in the car. Its been doing it for a while now. It DOESNT do it when the roof is DOWN.

Now my question to you - would this be classed as warranty work to rectify a clearly poor fitting roof?

They are trying to claim that the folding hard top roof is wear and tear and that they would like over £100 to put some top secret speacial spray/grease on to cure it - yes i know its prob wd40.

Now before i rant at them, everyone i spoke to seems to think they were trying to take advantage of the fact she was a woman in her 50's who doesnt know about cars (just paid £250 for a service).

Now anyone else with a twintop or other marque had a similiar experience? i know when the missus 207ccGT went in we asked and they sort that as standard no issues.

Are they being complete plantpots here or not?

Gonna ring and get it booked back in this morn.

Sounds to me it needs to be taken to a TwinTop Specialist and have it all reset and lubed. These are very common to start making noises..... ive had a few customers bring their Twintops back with the same props as yourself....

But, it IS covered by warranty isnt it?

they shouldnt be fobbing her off and acting like it isnt though should they. i mean ive just tx another mate who works for ford and said they would have looked at their hardtops under warranty.

cant just be vaux can it?

Down to the dealer again by the looks of it!

It should be covered under warrenty, if it isn't right it needs fixing. If you have problems with them try another dealer or speak to Dougie

my mums did the same, and it turned out to be the cables in the folding mech needed retensioning, which they wanted to charge for on a 7 month old car, need less to say she didnt pay for it in the end.
