but would need to be at least 340bhp to keep up with the rivals, audi S4 etc

im sure i read on here that the new 2.0sriturbo will reach 300+ bhp just with a remap, similar to what VAG are achieving with their current engines so the vxr will have alot to live upto

        Wide Engine Assortment
        Engine choices are extensive: The Insignia will be offered with four gasoline engines—a 113-hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder; a 138-hp 1.8-liter four; a 197-hp 2.0-liter turbo four; and a 256-hp 2.8-liter turbo V-6.
Diesel choices for the Insignia are three variations of the same 2.0-liter turbo-diesel rated at 108-, 128-, and 158 hp. The most fuel-efficient version will be a turbo-diesel called EcoFlex. In 2009, the Insignia will trounce its chief competitors, the VW Passat and the Ford Mondeo with a 250-hp, 2.9-liter V-6 turbo-diesel developed by supplier VM Motori. It’s the same engine that will be offered in the Cadillac CTS in Europe. And the performance Insignia, likely wearing the OPC or VXR moniker, will get a version of the 2.8-liter V-6 boosted to something between 310 hp and 330 hp.
Will be very interesting to see how this engine remaps compared to the 2.0 SIDI
        New Audi S4 uses a new supercharged 3.0 V6 for 328bhp/325lb/ft2.
