I had a 1.6 in black and a 1.6 in grey then in 1990 i imported a cherry red 1.9 via curry motors and this is what i used for concours then had a miami blue 1.9 and also had money down on an electric blue dimma throgh longfield motors who converted mi16 transplants as you said but fell through at last hurdle so went over to Bmw is coupes for a while. I used to run the 205 gti club of great britain and drove the T16 turbo albeit only for about 5 minutes but it was a memory...Jean Todt was running the rally team at the time i think.
