Anyone ever owned one of these or have any thoughts on them?

I have a strange fascination with these cars and would love to own one one day (even though they aren't the prettiest of cars  ).

Yeah the escort cossie is brilliant too! Quite mad how good ones can fetch over 15K.

Would depend on budget with me if I ever bought a cossie. If I had 7-8 grand spare I would buy a mint Sierra sapphire Cosworth, but 15-20 grand spare I could buy a mint Escort cossie.

Need to start doing the lottery more though.

todays VXR would prolly outdo the standard 225bhp of the escort cossie as it was then....

the vxr is a lot faster than a stanard escort cossie, but 500bhp is pretty easlily obtainable from them and they handle like nothing else.

my mate has monte carlo escort cossie in duel violet with about 400bhp and it is abslultly stunning.

he also has a 500bhp mk3 escort with 4x4 sierra floor pan. basically a shortened sierra with an escort shell plonked on top. the engines in these cars are fantastic.

im not too keen on the look of the saph cossies, but a good escort or 3door is well worth a look
                  stage 2 vxr

Hmmmm i thought all the escort cossies had the sierra floorplan.... but what i know.

Y'know my R32 skyline had 4 wheel drive but i sometimes was almost tempted to get the 4wd turned off to make it completely rear wheel drive.. just for mad moments! The skyline would feed drive to the front wheels depending on speed, conditions and how mad the driver was.... I means. At 'its' maddest 4 wheel drive was 50 50 Otherwise it was all but a rear wheel drive car.

In one way your right, they do, its a modified Sapphire floor pan thats been slightly cut down to accommdate the Escort body shell.

RWD cars are just so cool , nothing better than a hard launch an having it fish tail down the road
