  • I done the marathon

Well I done the marathon.... the time I wanted went out of the window at mile 6 but I done it never the less....

The heat was extreme with no breeze and NO WATER all the sodding "elite" runners were taking more than one bottle which meant even tho I was half way through the pack I didnt get any, this meant that I was left with the problem... run hell for leather and if there isn't water at the next station I am in trouble big time... or take it steady and just get around... I opted for the later. Also then picked up a knee injury so literally hobbled home.

Was in floods of tears around the half way mark as the pain was there and the fact I felt like i failed myself for knowing I can do better. It's so annoying when your body is telling you that you can run but you cant due to the heat and lack of water.

Anyway... here are my piccies of the day

me so not glam after 26.2miles

      Congratulations Mel.

Well done for getting round in that heat. Didn't catch you on the TV, too many pictures of the Elite runners!!

Hope you aren't suffering too much today.

                Mel oh Mel oh Mel.......

To be honest i feel a little dissapointed with this......

I cant believe you could add a line like this....

I felt like i failed myself for knowing I can do better

                LETS GET THIS INTO PERSPECTIVE......

This was a 26.2 mile course....

There were 36,500 runners the largest in the marathons history....

This was the hottest day in the races history!!!!!!

Out of 36,500 participants the most amount per percentage ever failed to make the finish line....

                and

One in seven were treated for heat related injuries which equalled over 5000 people......

So Mel be PROUD of what you have achieved as it is people like you that give children a chance to fight this awful illness in the future.......

You have obviously dug deep mel and thought of your gran on this journey and as my all time sports star Bjorn Borg once said of inner belief
"You have to find it as no one can find it for you"....

                Well done mel......

                Im really proud of you...
