Parking fine

Is there any purpose in disputing a parking fine where a private firm is involved. Don't want to waste my time if they just going to keep demanding payment.Been handed a fine for parking somewhere which is under contract to a private firm. Is the complaint procedure the same as if it was a fine from a council etc?

It's a private company they will just try and scare you for a while ignore it. Don't get in contact with them cause that will just make it worse.
