  • Autocar 19th April

An article on how low the sales target for the Astra VXR is. They are suggesting that the Focus ST is outselling it by Three to one and Vauxhall only aim for a target of 2.5% of Astra sales being a VXR.
They claim that Ford has sold 2000 ST's in the first quater of this year.

In fairness I have seen loads of ST's not saying they are right but it may carry some water.

Have to say have also seen many ST's, but, Vauxhall have no Astra VXR's sitting around and as a dealer I am having to wait 8 weeks for a new demo. Seems they are selling all they build. Controlled distribution maintains the brand integrity and second hand values. As Ford did with the RS at the time. How soon our Ford biased friends at Autocar forget.
      Insignia VXR, quite nippy!

I think Ford build the ST in sri-style numbers hence the reason they are more common.
In comparison terms the VXR is a more exclusive buy.

Would agree so long as the Vauxhall/Opel get sufficient return to ensure that they can continue to produce VXR derivatives in the future.
