What main use is it for or why are you looking to spend £1000 over say a decent £500ish laptop?

Also depends on size/weight of what you want?

Every laptop I've had so far has cost me around £500 and none have lasted me over 13 months (just out of warranty).
I use autocad, do some gaming, watch porn ..etc

I was thinking of a mac but that would mean buying new word processor, spreadsheet ...etc. Not to mention sorting out autocad compatibility.

Well there's a lot of decent gear available for the £500ish mark

More than reasonable spec - if you have a habit of going through laptops then extending the warranty on them might be a better bet? Out of interest what fails for you?

indeed, mac has inbuilt bootcamp into the new snow leopard.

im on windows 7 now on my MBP and it runs it really well much better then my older laptop.

make sure you spec the dedicated graphics on one as its worth it and the screen quality is amazing

I've had 2 hardrive failures and one screen with black splodges all over it.

Is the laptop getting a rough time, getting dropped etc?

I'd say - HDD failures aren't as common as they used to be, we have 500 on site and we don't see them often to be honest?

Would you consider warranty extension or maybe using a tool such as Symantec ghost to do incremental backup images of your drive? Even if you were to experience a total loss you would be able reload a new drive within minutes and be back as you were?
