7 makes vista seem like a pile of poo. You can upgrade Vista from any edition to any edition, but I would recommend a clean install as it just works better that way.

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7_editions

See here for a comparison of features and choose the edition that suits you. You can also use Anytime upgrade to upgrade later if you need a higher versions feature.

I agree , I have been beta testing windows 7 for the best part of a year and for the last few weeks a full retail version of windows 7 ultimate 64bit from my microsoft action pack.

Clean installs are the way to go , doing an upgrade is just asking for a headache at some point in the future!

Hi regalvxr the difference between upgrade version and full version is that the upgrade version will upgrade your vista to 7 without deleting any of your files or applications. If you want the full version it will delete all your files and folders so make sure you back them up. Also if you do a full install then make sure you have all the drivers etc for your sound and graphics etc.

                          Hope this helps

Tbh, i wouldn't upgrade for 12 months, untill all the security issues with it are sorted. By which time they Micrsoft would of released a new OS.

Get yaself Linux. Use the Debian Distro, it is very user friendly, secure and has all the similar applications as microsoft.

                            Most of all it's free.

I really only use Windows for MSN, as it's easier to communicate with the fiancee since I'm based in Germany. And I can use webcam etc.
