  • Guidelines for Adverts

    Dear all,

Just a few guidelines when posting a For Sale

    Trade Adverts
We have no objections to trade adverts but they must be posted in the trader sales area

    Private Ads

    Recent updates/clarifications:

We have recently reviewed our sales rules and the following clarification/updates are required with immeadiate effect:

Payment for goods MUST be conducted through paypal goods not gift, any person paying via gift will not receive any assistance from the team in the event of a dispute. The exceptions to this would be paying for the goods on a face to face deal or were the seller accepts payment by credit card.

No seller will refuse to accept paypal goods, the fees must be factored into the price stated in the advert, a seller found to be breaching this rule will have their sales access removed.

A sales advert MUST have a picture of the goods offered together with the seller's username and the date clearly visible.

Retaining sales area access, once granted the right will continue providing there is some contribution to the site within the proceeding 30 day period. If there is a period of 30 days or more without a contribution then no advert can be placed for 30 days from the member again contributing to the site in the form of at least two constructive/helpful posts each week during the period.

If a person decides to leave the site and becomes historic, but then decides to return to the site, they will be treated as new member and will reuire 50 posts in 30 days to regain sales access.
Be aware that the internet is a fine and dandy place in the main, but there is a minority of unscrupulous people out there who are out to get you. Here's a few helpful hints (some are obvious)

Obvious really but never release your vehicle until the funds have fully cleared into your bank account, including Cash & Banker's Draft. You never know if the cash or draft is counterfeit.

Beware the fraud that involves someone offshore sending you more than the deposit and asking you to repay the difference.

    Test Drives
A prospective buyer will probably want to drive your car, but a few simple precautions will ensure your P & J remains yours until you are ready

    1. If the buyer want's to drive, a) check their driving licence (they may have been DQ'd), if not photo-licence, request passport or something; b) ensure they can prove FULLY COMPREHENSIVE insurance cover, just in case there's a mishap when they are driving. Leave the documentation at home.

    2. Make sure you plan the route and let someone know what it is, better still, take someone along with you. And only let the buyer come on the test drive.

    3. If you have a "swap-over" (tricky parking, estate etc), make sure you keep the keys in your hand when you swap and do not let the buyer have the keys until YOU are safely in the car. Try to do so in a safe place, somewhere visible and preferably with CCTV (petrol stations are good).

    4. All ads must have a price you want for the goods forsale.

    Tracking Orders
It has come to our attention that unfortunately some items are going missing in the mail system so can we strongly advise the two parties involved in transactions of for sale items that they send goods via a registred mail system or at least have a tracking order so no goods can be lost and therefore cause problems between members if goods do not arrive...This will safeguard both parties in the future.

1 A Personal Sale includes used items and may include the odd new item but should not contain multiples of a new item. Personal sales are not to be advertised elsewhere unless clearly stated. The sale item MUST belong to the seller, sales are not permitted on behalf of someone else. This area has restrictions which prevent replies to the thread.

2 Sales include swaps and trades.

3 Sales may only be conducted by members of good standing, that is a member who has been registered for a minimum of 30 days and within the last 30 days has made a minimum of 50 constructive posts, ie a member who joined 12 months ago but has not been active on the site for some time will have to become active again for a period of 30 days with 50 posts in that time before they can post a sale thread. This is to allow members to make a judgement on the validity of the sale.

4 A photograph of the goods being sold should be displayed, with username on a piece of paper, helps to stop people selling goods they don't actually have.

5 The Price must be clearly outlined at the start of the post. The price is entirely up to the thread starter and if you do not agree with the price – then simply do not pay it! The price must include postage (to UK) and a discount can be offered for collection at the buyers discretion.

6 Sales threads linking to other sites, e.g. Piston Heads, EBay are allowed, however the sale must be completed off site.

7 An address and landline number should be obtained by both parties to a deal and any payment should be carried out through a recorded system i.e. BACS/paypal. Paying cash on a motorway service is best avoided!

8 If you have a problem with a transaction please contact a moderator for advice, do not start a thread questioning another members integrity.

9 VXRonline personal sales are run by members and whilst we will try to help if there is a dispute we, VXRonline, accept no responsibility (legal or otherwise) for any transactions.

10 No firearms / weapons or fake goods should be traded on this site.

If you have other useful pieces of advice, please PM me and I'll update
