  • Oil Leaks, sump gasket

Hi a friend of mine is interested in buying a VXR 55 Reg (2005) 43000 MILES, that he has gone to view already.

After an inspection from the AA, these following faults were found:-

    1. External leaks (upper engine) at the cam cover gasket.

    2. Engine underside leakage and fluid/oil leaks at the underside is difficult to dertermine as there is so much oil and grease that is coming from the drive shaft CV.

    3. Universal/sliding joints on the near side and the off-side inner has got the protective boot loose due to the security clips coming off, the joints also needs checking for wear.

    4. Oil leak wetness around sump gasket.

What are your thoughts about the faults, my friend is unsure about how major these faults are, and if the engine may well be damaged. Due to the fact when the AA engineer turned up to inspect the VXR there was no or little oil for the engine. (no oil light was on)

Any thoughts would be much appreciated, thanx
