MPH'05 was automotive show business at its very best, where the star cast was a line-up of the World's most magnificent prestige and performance cars.
Hosted by Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond, the show gave the public the chance to get up close to many jaw-dropping cars, at two different venues - the NEC in Birmingham and the Excel Centre in London.
VXR made a splash at this year’s events with a fantastic static display featuring all its latest VXR models. At the heart of the show was the MPH theatre; a 75-minute live motoring performance that also featured two Astra VXRs dodging and dancing with JCBs.
The finale was the surprise of an Astra Sport Hatch suddenly 'flying' across the theatre. The trick was done using a life size, full exterior replica balloon. Filled with helium and using tiny motors, the model could literally fly and hover across the stage. The model was also recently used at the Rally of Great Britain at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and on BBC2’s TopGear. UFO spotters beware.
